I have strong feelings about salad dressing. Because a salad is only as good as the dressing you put on it.
My rule of thumb is to make dressing when I can. I have a few bottled dressings that I like in a pinch, but I will almost always make my own unless I’m out of an ingredient or I’m just too exhausted to bother.
Honey mustard is super easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. It starts with honey. My fave is Ava Jane’s Kitchen Yucatan Honey, and is what I used here. For mustard, your favorite Dijon will do. I prefer a grainy mustard, but if you want something super creamy, just use smooth.
A few other ingredients help make your dressing rich and creamy: Mayo (bonus points if you use homemade made with Ava Jane’s Kitchen Avocado Oil), a bit of vinegar, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. A small amount doesn’t make it spicy per se, but it helps cut the sweetness a bit. Sounds counterproductive, I know, but it works, trust me!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Ava Jane’s Kitchen Yucatan Honey
- 1/4 Dijon mustard
- 1/4 mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- Colima Sea Salt, to taste
Directions
Put all of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Thin out with a bit of water if necessary. Store in a jar in the fridge.
